I know it's been a looong time since I've posted up anything haha sorry about that. I've just been really busy with school and council and frankly, I was being a little lazy.
But Monster and Lucky One just came out so I'm allll sorts of happy. As such, here's my latest foodie adventure update.
Iris and I were looking for a place to satisfy our jap cravings and Iris suggested Makisan as I hadn't tried it before.
Makisan is basically this DIY sushi station thingy where you get to choose your own ingredients and customise your sushi! Best part is, you wont be the one doing the messy rolling; the people behind the counter will take the ingredients you've chosen, roll it and cut it up into neat rolls of sushi for you.
SUPER FUN
The queues can get quite long sometimes though, so try to get there a little earlier.
We both ordered the mega san ($9.90) where you get
1 wrap + 1 rice + 5 essentials + 1 special + 1 sprinkle + 1 house sauce
I would recommend getting the mega san over the mini san!
It's a lot more worth your money.
By the way, you can also choose the option of getting of having your sushi fried but we both didn't opt for it. So maybe if you do try it next time, let us know how it goes hahah
It comes in this rather cute box
As you can see, the sushi rolls are quite thick.
so yeayyyyy
Iris' order:
[seaweed; healthy brown rice]
5 essentials: Carrot, roasted mushroom, japanese cucumber, tempura mushroom, boiled egg
1 special: Salmon sashimi
1 sprinkle: Tempura crunch
1 sauce: Smokey cheddar cheese (I think)
Can you tell how healthy Iris is hahah
"superb"
My (awesome) creation:
[seaweed; japanese white rice]
5 essentials: Tamagoyaki (egg), pickled seaweed, crabstick, shredded chicken, prawn roe
1 special: Salmon sashimi
1 sprinkle: Turkey bacon bits
1 sauce: Japanese curry
I would say it was a pretty great combination. I don't think you can exactly taste each distinct component of the sushi but together, it somehow fits :)
Of course, if you're feeling a little adventurous, you could always put together something like dried cranberries, onion, avacado, olives, jalapenos, roast beef, raisins and Yuzu honey hahhahaha although I would recommend not to because well, onions and avocado and raisins? Nastay
Me being very satisfied with my order hehe
Sushi cravings - satisfied!
After our makisan date, Iris bought some milky cow and we walked around SOTA to take some a lot of photos hehe
(yeah I have braces now btw in case you didn't know)
le awkward posing
me looking into my very bright future amiright
Yeah after a while, we just started goofing around haha
(btw SOTA is SO cool)
After taking photos we walked to POMO and window shopped a little at this tumblr, aesthetic warehouse thingy
we also stopped by a korean supermarket - SHINE(e)
then we headed over to Nihon Mura express and binged on more sushi hoho.
Everything there is only $1.6 per plate! Be careful though, it's very easy to get carried away.
We planned to have a max of 6 plates of sushi each,
but Iris ended up having 10 plates, and me - 11.
HAHAH
While we were walking from cathay to plaza sing to conclude our food binge - llao llao, we passed by this sorta kinda creepy street and Iris was like oho lets take some cool photos
Great photography skills iris
Ok, maybe I'm not one to talk HAHA
detour to adidas
detour to some household supermarket
detour to left foot
ok so basically we took way too many detours but finally ended up at llao llao
(where I found out something absolutely mortifying and had a mini spasm)
but anyway, it was a good good day :)
Till next time,
Charis
