Exams had just ended and we had a four day holiday!
We thought lunch wasn't provided in our boarding school (when it actually was),
so we decided to go out for lunch on Monday. I was feeling very italian-ey and spent about an hour or so looking for a good italian restaurant.
After many open tabs, we settled on La Nonna, an italian restaurant tucked into a corner of Holland Village. It had some good reviews but their lunch offer was the one that really attracted my eye.
It was a 1-for-1 pizza / pasta / main course. Which basically means that if you get a pizza, you can get a pasta dish free!
As we had only had three people, we had to order four dishes.
and it was MORE. THAN. ENOUGH.
We even had to 'tapao' some back hehehe
Its not very hard to miss
26 Lorong Mambong, Singapore 277685
It's right next to CRAFT Bakery, which I will be hoping to check out next hehe
We had some kind of complimentary bread basket but the bread was super tough and dry.
It did come with some olive oil though. (but it didn't really help)
This was how hard the bread was.
"where is the food"
Linguine Pasta served with Crab Meat in Tomato Cream Sauce and Fresh Basil -- $24
My dish came first! I don't really like to try different types of pasta other than the usual Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and I was especially hesitant to try this dish as the pairing of crab meat and pasta sounded rather odd. However, my roommate convinced me to order it, and I am forever grateful.
It surpassed all my expectations! The pasta came in good timing, and it looked positively brilliant.
There were generous portions of succulent crab meat and the sauce was absolutely delicious.
Considering it was about $13+ (inclusive of GST and stuff), it was definitely worth it!
Definitely would recommend this.
Macaroni & Cheese Della Nonna Holland Village --$21
This was such a cheesy dish! Cheese was oozing out of every nook and cranny of the macaroni and was steaming hot when it was brought out to us. Three of us shared this dish and we had to wait a good 3 minutes before we could dig in. However, it really was delightful. There was a distinctive tomato-sauce taste amidst all the cheese which I really loved.
Oven-baked Classic Lasagne with Bolognese Sauce -- $22
This was fantaaaaaastic. It was rich, cheesy, hot and altogether quite amazing. The layers of pasta, beef and cheese were very filling and enjoyable.
Qiqi looking ultra pleased with it
Tomato, Mozzarella, Onion, Salami, Cooked Ham, Pancetta and Roasted Chicken. -- $24
This, I can honestly say, was the best pizza I've ever tasted.
Every component of this dish complemented each other perfectly and it was like a party in my mouth.
The pancetta was, I feel, the shinning star of the pizza. It was crunchy and full of flavour!
Absolutely heavenly.
Mapoti Alert
Will you look at that amount of cheese!
Nikki attempting to be lady-like
The crust is so thin! This made the pizza especially delicious and easier to eat too hahah
By this point, we were on the verge of full
And at this point, we were just plain full (as you can tell)
Nikki and I managed to finish what we ordered!
Qi on the other hand..
We really couldn't finish everything so we decided to bring it back home.
We had to pay $0.30 each box though. All in all, we paid around $18 per person,
