AUS ROCs: 6th Day

Oh we had to wake up at 5:30 today. Cause we had to leave the hotel by 6:15am as it was a 3 hour drive to our destination.

At year 9, the girls in Lauriston Girls High School get sent to this camp called Howqua where they spend a year away from their family and technology.

They're all really really pretty, independent and talented and all that. They're also all really fit. By fit I mean like run 13km three times a week kind of fit. And its not a straight path, its undulating! Uphill, downhill, around hill, though hill, you name it.

Even we struggle with 2.4km HAHHAAH

Since we had free time, our teachers took us shopping hahah but HAHA the stuff was wayyyy too expensive so the only things my friends and I bought was candy floss haha

Candy flosss (the only thing we could afford)

Oh yeah, we got gum too!
You should have seen how hard I tried to blow a bubble hahahah
I also may have accidentally spit my gum out by trying to blow so hard
._____.

My first ever gumballlllll

AUS ROCs: 5th Day

We went caving today!!

We took a hike up the mountain for about 15-20 minutes or so. We could have probably gone a little faster but we were all pretty lazy haha. Once reached. we put down our bags, put our helmets and flashlights on and the guide briefed us on how it would be like in the cave.

I'm slightly claustrophobic?? Small, tight places are nasty. I thought the caves would be really musty and like hard to breathe in and so I was kind of reluctant to go in ahah but I didn't really have a choice so I went in.

Surprisingly, the air was still pretty fresh in the cave. Breathing was not a problem at all. THE ROCKS WERE. Majority of the time we were in the cave, we had to grab onto rocks to support us and ohhh goshhh the rocks were really really painful. 4 minutes into the cave and I had already gotten quite a few small cuts on my hand. Not only that, they were muddy and wet.

We had to squeeze through lots of tiny tiny holes. TINY. But thankfully, everybody managed to fit through all the holes hahha confirmation that we're thin yah

Twas not a good day for tall people though. Due to the fact that they had to pull their whole body through the hole while the shorter ones could just kind of slip through.

Halfway through caving, we switched off our headlamps and experienced total darkness, where we couldn't even see our hands in front of us! Which was super cool.

After one and a half hours later, we finished caving!! The kind guides had prepared lunch for us. :) It was a wrap filled with lettuce, cabbage, corn and kidney beans. Believe it or not, I finished it :P well, most of it.

After caving, we visited the Eureka skydeck!

After chilling up there for a while, we headed back down and off to our next stop: DINNER AT NANDOS.

We took the train! :D

AUS ROCs: 4th Day

Goodbye Phillip island!

Hello Melbourne!!!

We visited a chocolate factory :D That was a delicious experience haha

We got up at around 7am, had devotions, checked out, had breakfast and we were on our way to the chocolate factory.

Walking into the factory, you could instantly smell the chocolates everywhere! We all went on this tour that was really interesting and cool.

We got to make our own chocolates.

There was also these really lame and granted, quite funny puns hahah

For example, the 'chocolate mousse' turned out to be a chocolate moose.

The 'chocolate bar' was a bar made out of chocolate.

The 'chocolate ice-cream' was basically a chocolate bar with an eye in the middle and it would make little screams haha.

There were also little stations of games whereby if you earned a point, you could later exchange it for a chocolate ball.

It was all a really fun experience.

After eating lots of chocolate we decided to get some exercise hahha. We learnt how to play lacrosse next.

Basically, its like field hockey but instead of the ball being on the ground, it would be played mostly in the air.

There are three attackers, three mid-fielders and three defenders in each tea,

After learning up the basic skills we played a friendly match between ourselves. It was incredibly fun and funny as well. We were running here and there and occasionally running into each other and dropping the ball hahah.

The best thing? We didn't sweat at all!

After everything, we went for a supposedly "Chinese dinner". The first dish was chips hahah

I would be sharing a room with Nikki, Ling and Shing for the next three nights :) There were again three single beds and one double bed which HAHHAHA I called dibs on again. (sorry guys)

After debrief and devotions we slept.

AUS ROCs: 3rd Day

I think this was the most interesting and fun day I had in Australia.

We went snorkelling, ate a proper Australian BBQ dinner and saw koalas.

The instructors handed our wetsuits which thank goodness was tighter than the one I wore for kayaking. Cause y'know less water would be able to get in but TBH once you're in the water, the water's going to get into your suit regardless of tightness so yeah. HAHHA

Okay. Let me say first that I am terrified of corals/seaweed/anything under the sea. Except for like sand. TERRIFIED.

So you can pretty much imagine how my experience went. Plus, I had to take off my specs so I was half blind. Basically, I was swimming half blind into blurry shapes and like suddenly run into a clump of seaweed. *shudders*

I was pretty scary at first hahah I didn't really dare to put my face into the water cause I really did not want to see the seaweed and because of that I couldn't really swim properly and everyone was going so fast so I was panicking HHAHA. Thankfully, Na and Nikki took hold off my hands and pulled me along.

Then we saw a stingray! Now that was cool. It was really huge! It was just lying on the seabed beneath us and I wouldn't have really noticed it if our instructor hadn't pointed it out.

We snorkelled for about a half hour or so and then we gathered back at the bus and went off to our BBQ dinner! Or so I thought lol we had to do quadrat sampling first.

Tze Tonggg :)

The dinner was WONDERFUL. We had sausages, squid, beef patties, potato salad, actual salad.

After stuffing ourselves up, we started the walk. It was a real pity we couldn't take any pictures though :((( We saw about 6 koalas or so!

((honestly, koalas really don't do anything HAHAH I mean they are really adorable and stuff but that's about it. They basically just sit there and stare at you. The most interesting thing they would do would be to scratch their ear. Or eat a leaf haha.))
